Cape Girardeau celebrated the successful completion of Broadway street work 10/31/12.
‘The new Broadway corridor is a $4.41 million project, a part of the Transportation Trust Fund approved by the voters of Cape Girardeau in August 2010, to do curb, gutter, sidewalk and street overlay. The corridor was enhanced with decorative streetscape that includes colored concrete, pedestrian lighting, landscaping and a 15-foot-wide “promenade” sidewalk. The project was also partially funded by a development agreement between the City and Isle of Capri.
The Development Services Division of the City of Cape Girardeau contracted with Fronabarger Concreters for the street work. Work was complete on-time and on-budget in six months. No block was closed for longer than three weeks at a time. The beautification and streetscape enhancements will be installed at a later date, with full project completion in early April 2013.
